WAAM
Large-format robotic metal fabrication
WAAM (Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing) combines an electric arc, metal wire and multi-axis robotics to manufacture metal components layer by layer, directly from a digital model.
Unlike small-format 3D printing, WAAM is designed to manufacture and repair large, customized, high-value industrial parts.
WAAM Process
01 Digital Design
The component is designed, scanned, or rebuilt in CAD.
02 Manufacturing Engineering
The alloy, orientation, robot trajectory, overmaterial, and deposition parameters are defined.
03 Metallic deposition
The robot melts the wire using an electric arc and deposits metal beads layer by layer.
04 Monitoring
Process variables such as trajectory, temperature, wire feed, and deposition conditions are controlled.
05 Post-processing
The preform is machined, heat treated, polished or coated depending on the application.
06 Validation
Dimensional controls, inspections, and tests defined for the component are performed.
Why WAAM
Large format
Manufacturing of industrial-sized components.
Low volume
Unique pieces, short series and custom spare parts.
Less waste
Material is deposited where it is needed, instead of machining an entire block.
Without molds
Ideal for urgent, obsolete or low-repetition parts.
Repair
Recovery of existing components without manufacturing everything again.
Digital Chain
From the CAD file to the physical part, with traceable information.
